What is IKEA Guessr?
IKEA Guessr (one word on the site: IKEAGuessr) is a free daily price guessing game for IKEA fans. Each day you get one product from the IKEA US catalog, with its photo and full name, and 6 tries to guess what it costs. Get within 10% of the real price and you win. Everyone sees the same product on the same day, so you can compare scores with friends.
How to play
Type a price in dollars and press Guess. Each guess gets a color and an arrow:
- Green ✓: within 10% of the real price. You win.
- Yellow: within 25%. The arrow says whether to go higher (↑) or lower (↓).
- Red: more than 25% off. Follow the arrow.
A new product unlocks every day at midnight UTC. Your progress and streak are saved in your browser. Can't wait for tomorrow? Unlimited mode (the ∞ button) gives you a new random product every round.
What products show up?
The puzzles cover 17 IKEA departments, from lighting and textiles to sofas, beds and outdoor furniture. No two days share the same product series, and two days in a row never come from the same department. Kitchen cabinet systems are left out because the pieces look almost identical.
IKEA prices by the numbers
This year's 365 products range from $5 to $1,999. The median is about $30, and nearly two thirds cost under $50, so start low unless the photo shows furniture. About one in seven is $200 or more. Prices come from the IKEA US website as of July 2025 and may differ from what you see in stores today.
Typical prices by department in this year's puzzles (median, then the full range):
| Department | Median | Range |
|---|---|---|
| Home textiles | $14.99 | $5.99–$74.99 |
| Baby & kids | $14.99 | $5.99–$299 |
| Laundry & cleaning | $14.99 | $7.99–$39.99 |
| Kitchenware & tableware | $17.99 | $5.99–$59.99 |
| Home decor | $17.99 | $7.99–$219.99 |
| Bathroom | $19.99 | $6.99–$319 |
| Plants & planters | $19.99 | $5.99–$39.99 |
| Boxes, organizers & baskets | $21.99 | $7.99–$45.99 |
| Lighting | $29.99 | $6.99–$129.99 |
| Rugs & flooring | $39.99 | $9.99–$899.99 |
| Storage & organization | $49.99 | $5–$399 |
| Tables & chairs | $85 | $15.99–$699.99 |
| Outdoor | $125 | $14.99–$699 |
| Sofas & armchairs | $129.99 | $10–$599 |
| Beds & mattresses | $249 | $15–$637 |
| Desks & desk chairs | $249.99 | $8.50–$1,014.97 |
| Kitchen appliances | $699 | $39–$1,999 |
The low ends are worth a look. A sofa costs a few hundred dollars, but the "sofas" department also has a $10 chair pad, and the $15 item in beds is a support beam, not a bed. Read the name before you trust the photo.
Tips for guessing IKEA prices
- Read the whole product name. It tells you the size, the material and the pack size. "Set of 4" or a big measurement in inches pushes the price up; "cover" or "insert" usually pulls it down.
- End in .99. About four in five prices end in .99, and most of the rest are whole dollars. You don't need cents to win, but $19.99 is a more natural guess than $21.
- Split the gap. If one guess is too low and another too high, the next guess should sit between them. With 6 tries and a 10% window, steady halving gets you there even on expensive items.
- Treat yellow as a small step. Yellow means you're within 25%. Move 10–20% in the arrow's direction, not 50%.
- Mind the price list's age. Prices are from July 2025, so a product may cost a little more or less in your local store now. Go with what IKEA would have charged then.
An example round
Say today's product is a table lamp. Lighting's median is about $30, so you open with $30 and get yellow with ↑. You try $40: yellow with ↓. The answer is between $30 and $40, so you guess $35 and it turns green. Three tries, and your share grid shows two yellow squares and one green.
Sharing your score
When the round ends, press Share to copy a grid of colored squares and arrows. It shows how close you got without giving away the price.
FAQ
Is IKEA Guessr free?
Yes. There's no account, no app to install and no payment. Open the page and play in any modern browser, on a phone or a computer.
What counts as a correct guess?
Anything within 10% of the real price, above or below. If the product costs $100, every guess from $90 to $110 wins. You can type whole dollars like 49 or cents like 12.99; a comma works as the decimal point too.
Where do the products come from?
From a public snapshot of about 30,000 products on the IKEA US website, taken in July 2025. Items under $5, near-identical kitchen cabinet pieces and products with poor photos were removed, which leaves roughly 17,500 to pick from. Each year's 365 daily puzzles are drawn from that pool.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes, and it's built for phones first. Hold your phone upright; the whole game fits on one screen, with the price box at the bottom near your thumb. On a computer you can type your guess and press Enter.
Is this an official IKEA game?
No. It's a fan-made game. IKEA did not make it and does not endorse it. Product names, photos and prices come from a public snapshot of the IKEA US website.
What time does the new product come out?
At midnight UTC, the same moment everywhere in the world. That is 8 pm Eastern or 5 pm Pacific during daylight saving time. A countdown appears after you finish the day's round.
Can I play past puzzles?
Not yet. Each day only has that day's product. If you want more rounds, Unlimited mode has 1,000 other products that never appear in the daily game.
Why does my streak or history disappear?
Your stats live in your browser's local storage, not on a server. Clearing site data, using private browsing or switching to another device starts you from zero.
Does it use US prices only?
Yes, all prices are in US dollars from the IKEA US website. Prices in other countries can be quite different, so treat it as a US price list even if you shop somewhere else.
How is this different from Costcodle?
The idea is the same: one product a day, six guesses. IKEA Guessr uses IKEA products, wins within 10% instead of 5% because IKEA prices range from a few dollars to a couple of thousand, and switches days at midnight UTC so everyone plays the same puzzle number.
